Contract News: Paddy Here To Stay

Fri, 01/07/2022 - 00:25

Glentoran FC is delighted to announce that our central defender Patrick McClean has signed an extension to his contract. This means that Paddy has now committed himself to Glentoran until at least the end of the 2024/25 season.

Since joining the club from Derry City in July 2019, Paddy has made 119 first team appearances for the club, scoring 6 goals. He has been a regular throughout that time, was captain for much of the 2021-22 season while Marcus Kane was injured and has been a major fan favourite from the very early stages of his career at the Met McLean Oval.

Assistant Head Coach Paul Millar said of Paddy: “As has always been the case with Paddy since we first met him, these contract negotiations were quick and easy. Paddy’s commitment to Glentoran is outstanding and he has done so much for us here in his first three seasons. For someone who’s still only 25 he has been a real leader on the pitch and has always stepped up well when he’s been called on to captain the team. He is part of the backbone of our squad and it’s great that he’ll be here for at least another three years.”
