Ballymena host Glentoran at Showgrounds

Fri, 12/09/2014 - 22:45

Glentoran will travel to Ballymena Utd this Saturday looking to pick up consecutive victories for the first time this season. Glentoran defeated Coleraine 2-0 at The Oval last week giving Eddie Patterson's side their first win for four games ending a poor run with draws against Ballinamallard Utd and Portadown whilst losing to Crusaders in between. At this early stage of the season with the table fairly clumped, back to back wins would certainly help the Glens climb the table as quickly as possible.

Ballymena Utd made a fantastic start to the season winning three of their opening four games. Since then the excellent early season form has stuttered and last week they were surprisingly defeated 3-0 against Ballinamallard Utd. No doubt today they will be looking to bounce back.

For Glentoran, Kym Nelson went off injured last weekend as did Jay Magee so they will both be a doubt for tomorrow's game. Apart from that Eddie Patterson has a full squad to choose from and it will be interesting to see if the likes of Jordan Stewart and Jim O'Hanlon can break back into the Glentoran side. David Scullion has been the top performer for the Glens so far this season bagging four early goals and hopefully he can continue his form tomorrow.

Tomorrow's game promised to be a cracker as Ballymena look to restore their early season form and Glentoran look to gain momentum from an important victory last week. Come down to Ballymena and cheer the boys on. COYG
