Glentoran Football Club was represented at this evening’s meeting in Dundalk on the proposed All Island Football League by club Director, Grahame Jenkins.
Grahame felt that the Working Group led by Kieran Lucid contains a number of very impressive and experienced football people. The general view of the meeting was that that there was enough detail in the proposal to allow delegates to report back to their clubs that there is merit in continuing with more in depth discussions..
The cover of tomorrow night’s Gazette is graced by a remarkable member of the Glentoran family. Our oldest surviving player, Bertie Wright, celebrated his 100th birthday on Wednesday and will be guest of honour at Friday’s game against Ballymena United. Glentoran were boosted today by having almost a full panel of our highly rated young stars available - those who have been around the fringes of the first team squad in recent times.
Glentoran travelled north to Inver Park to face Larne in Friday night's Danske Bank Premiership game, televised live on BBC NI. It was the third meeting of the sides this season. In the previous two, played at the Oval, Larne started strongly and went in front only for Glentoran to fight back and win the game.
