Graham McKibben Fundraiser
Glentoran Select XI vs Comber Rec Select XI

Wednesday 7th May

Graham McKibben affectionately known as ‘Mad Dog’ in football circles, is a young upcoming goalkeeper with Glentoran FC, just before Christmas in a Irish Youth Cup fixture he clashed knees with a Portadown forward (just for information, absolutely no blame whatsoever on the forward – just honest commitment from both players) unfortunately Kibby came out of it with severe knee ligament damage.

Backwards and forwards to hospital, consultations, weeks in plaster, MRI scans, all of which resulted in major knee surgery just 3 weeks ago at a cost of £3500, and so the rehabilitation and long road to recovery begins. Kibby is a student with little income and his family, friends and the wider football fraternity want to raise as much money as they can towards the operation costs and to help provide the best rehabilitation possible for the lad.

All the Glentoran players and staff have donated money or ballot items, Tony Barnett from BodyTone Physiotherapy (Bangor) has very kindly donated initial assessments and treatments for his early rehab.

Comber Rec FC situated in Parkway, Comber have given the use of their clubhouse and pitch for a benefit match, where a Glentoran (Past, Present and Future select) will take on their Comber Rec counterparts in order to raise some cash, Kick off on Friday is 7.00pm and admission is £3.00, afterwards from 8.30pm onwards ALL are welcome to the Rec Club, where the alcohol is cheap and local band CESTIS are playing for free and lite bites will be available.

Fund raising activities are planned, items for ballot include, a Northern Ireland shirt signed and donated by Manager Nigel Worthington, Chris Morgan’s ‘Morgan Day’ shirt signed by the current Glentoran squad, Alan Mannus of Linfield and Northern Ireland has kindly donated and signed his match worn shirt v. Iceland, as well as a N.Ireland v Bulgaria programme signed by the whole squad.

You can participate in this very worthy fundraiser by

  • Donating a ballot / auction item
  • Playing In / Coming to watch the Charity Match
  • Coming to the Club and have a beer and a boogie (bring your friends)
  • Stick £5 (minimum) in a sealed envelope and put your name and contact no on it to enter the ballot.
  • Forward this information to as many people as you can

All five of the above or anything else you can think of.

An Invitation to Supporters
Thursday 1st May

The Board of Director’s would like to thank all our fans for their continued support of the club throughout the year. Too often, for whatever reason, many clubs take this dedication and commitment for granted.

We are aware that a topic of debate amongst our supporters this year has been the season ticket pricing structure and the admission price for kids, for the year just ended.

At the same time, the Board are keen to communicate more effectively with you, the lifeblood of this club and to take on board your suggestions and ideas on a variety of issues.

We are therefore delighted to announce the first of what we hope will be a series of fans forums.

Clearly there are many topics that could be discussed, yet in order to make the forum as productive as possible, we would ask that we restrict this first meeting to a single issue, namely the Season Ticket pricing policy for the 2008-09 season.

What would you like to see in place, family tickets, kids tickets for £5, concession tickets? Should they include European games and Pre-season friendlies?

Should a discount be offered for early payers? Or should a half-priced season ticket be available from December to January? Whatever your view, this is your chance to help shape your clubs policy.

This meeting is open to all supporters and will take place in the Danepak suite at 2pm on Saturday 10th May 2008. Please note that due to the capacity of the Danepak suite, numbers will have to be strictly limited on a first come, first serve basis.
